PASO ROBLES, CA (October 12, 2012) – Delta Liquid Energy propane delivery specialist Dave Wills put out four small brushfires he noticed from the road while driving his delivery route on Adelaida Road in Paso Robles on Friday, October 5, 2012.
Wills explains that he was driving on Adelaida Road when he saw smoke from what appeared to be three separate fires about a mile up the road, just off of Nacimiento Lake Drive.
“When I saw the smoke, I pulled over and secured my Bobtail 226 truck in a safe matter and immediately called 9-11. I grabbed the fire extinguisher from my truck and began extinguishing the fires,” Wills says. While putting out the first three, a fourth fire came into view higher up the hill. “The fires were just starting when I saw them, so I caught them before they were able to grow out of control.” According to Wills, three fire truck engines arrived on the scene within 15 minutes of his call. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“Dave gets the attention he deserves as an upstanding employee. He is a community and Delta Liquid Energy hero!” says Delta Liquid Energy’s Safety, Technology & Training Manager Richard Steck. “Without rain in over 100 days in a row, the result of the fire could have been really bad had Dave not saved the day.”
